Support Services

Rural Health Workforce Australia manages a number of national support programs for rural and remote health professionals.

We are piloting the delivery of Business Support Services to rural and remote GP practices. Western Australia and Tasmania are the pilot sites, with the Rural Workforce Agencies implementing the support services.

We also manage the Rural GP Locum Program which provides locum services to doctors in the bush who need to take leave for personal or professional reasons. The site offers more information for doctors wishing to apply for a locum under the program and for doctors wishing to apply to become a locum so they can give their country colleagues a break.

In addition, we nationally manage the Fellowship Support Program (also known as the Additional Assistance Program). This provides case management and funding for overseas trained doctors who are seeking Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
A wide range of other support programs are provided in individual jurisdictions by Rural Workforce Agencies.
